Social Responsibility: The idea that companies should embrace its social repsonsibilities and not be solely focused on maximizing profits. Social responsibility entails developing businesses with a positive relationship to the environment and the society in which they operate.
Corporate Citizenship: The extent to which businesses are socially responsible for meeting legal, ethical and economic responsibilities placed on them by shareholders.
Greenwashing: When a company, government or other group promotes green-based environmental initiatives or images but actually operates in a way that is damaging to the environment or in an opposite manner to the goal of the announced initiatives.
Triple Bottom Line: A principle that states that a company should have their emphasis on separate financial, social and environmental "bottom lines."
Sustainability: The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, thereby supporting long-term ecological balance.
